Welcome to Woodside Art Studio!

Jill Pratt is a well known watercolour artist who lives in St. Catharines, in the shadow of the escarpment. It is here that she finds constant and abundant inspiration. Whether painting the shores of Sauble Beach, the rugged trails in Tobermory or the vineyards of Niagara, she hopes her watercolours reflect the love and respect she holds for the land.

Happy New Year!

Well, hopefully 2021 will be a better year for the world! I am sorry that I haven’t kept this blog updated. Though all our shows in 2020 were cancelled due to restrictions, it did not stop me painting up a storm. We are going ahead with this years summer shows....Studio Tour in Sauble Beach (July 10/11) and Art on the Fence in Southampton in August. I will update info as I get it.

Meanwhile I have accepted the challenge (100dayproject.org) of painting a picture every day for 100 days! It started on Jan.31st so I will show you a few from this past week...

Well, I will get back to work!

You may follow my paintings each day on Instagram at prattjill.art

What a world!

We are in difficult times, that’s for sure. I hope you are all coping well, self isolating and finding something worthwhile to do. I am so blessed to have art. When I’m painting I can put all my worries ( upcoming surgeries) and concerns ( Covid-19) out of mind for a while! I am really lucky that I have such a diversion at this time! I have been painting up a storm lately.
I am looking forward to another summer up at Sauble Beach....specifically the Studio Tour 2020 . I have so many new paintings . The weekend of July 4th and 5th will be our first event of the season.
Looking forward to seeing many of you. I have lots to view......watercolours, inks, jewellery, cards...
Please, drop by and say hi! I will post some pictures to entice you!!!

A few beach pictures....
 Some winter paintings too.........

It’s Been Awhile!!

Hello....yes, quite a while since I have posted new work! But there is so much I could show you!! Here are a couple of new ink paintings which are bright, beautiful and make such a colourful statement! This first painting, is called ‘ Fire and Ice’....a wayside field of weeds on a bright , sunny Autumn day. It is matted and framed to approx. 18x24”
The second is called ‘ Moonglow’...same size.... a breathtaking garden in moon light!
I am getting ready for a Studio Tour in July.....with many new paintings!

Vintage Inspired

I have always had an affection for the ‘tinkle’ sound of a piece of frosted Lucite jewellery. A mixture of glass and acrylic, it was first manufactured by DuPont in the 1930’s for a coating made for aircraft I believe...and in 1936 the first pieces of jewellery were made with it.
My Grandmother had a bracelet and my mother had a floral necklace made with frosted Lucite.
So.....here is my first collection of Lucite jewellery. I have mixed in Swarovski and various metals..... a few examples anyway. I will be at St. Joseph’s Winery in Niagara on the Lake on Dec.1st......

The Studio Tour is Here!

Hi! I’ve spent the better part of today setting up for the Shoreline Artists Studio Tour this weekend! Grid walls are up, labels posted, directional signs out on the roadways, art cards in their stands ..... all ready to put up my paintings tomorrow morning.
I have to admit, I love my choice of paintings this year. I am gradually moving to the abstract and liking the results. I particularly like the India ink and watercolour paintings....more graphic and yet loose!
If you are reading this tonight, I hope you come by this weekend. The tour involves 22 artists at 15 locations. Come and see me at Sauble Beach....I’ll give you a map!

Bahamas Update

Another beautiful day!
Palm trees are so beautiful and always moving ...but they seem to be too rigid in my paintings.
I've tried a new way of doing them...I think I like the whimsical look. It feels right , but when I get home they might look different. Like when you buy a beautiful hand made piece of clothing while on vacation...you think it's fantastic, but when you get home you realize it's just out of place! We'll see!
