Welcome to Woodside Art Studio!

Jill Pratt is a well known watercolour artist who lives in St. Catharines, in the shadow of the escarpment. It is here that she finds constant and abundant inspiration. Whether painting the shores of Sauble Beach, the rugged trails in Tobermory or the vineyards of Niagara, she hopes her watercolours reflect the love and respect she holds for the land.

The end of the year newscasts have done alot of "Top Stories of 2011" and the Slave Lake fire was certainly a catastrophic event. I tried to capture some sense of the smoke and devastation that scarred the landscape ...........first in watercolour.

A New Year...a new beginning

Well, all the wonderful Christmas get-togethers are winding down and with New Years Eve only a day away, it's time to get back to what I love. A new year means a clean palette and I am so looking forward to being snowed in. No more shopping, wrapping, eating, drinking, cooking, baking and entertaining. I'm heading into the studio and ignoring the phone.
It's time to paint.

I have been experimenting. Impasto...it's new to me...and I like it. This is my first piece. We took the boat from Tobermory to Flowerpot Island...and I have wonderful sketches and photos of the water over submerged rocks. I think I will work on a few of these.

I like the realism of this piece I painted of the bridge at Ball's Falls in Vineland. In reality the stream is often a mere trickle, but I think this captures the feelings I have of this place.
